The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are a universal call to action to end poverty, protect the planet, and ensure that all people enjoy peace and prosperity by 2030. Adopted by all United Nations Member States in 2015, the SDGs build on the successes of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) while also addressing the challenges that were not fully tackled by the MDGs, such as inequality, climate change, and sustainable development.

In September 2017, Parliament of Kenya formed a Caucus on Sustainable Development Goals and Business pursuant to Standing Order number 259.
The Caucus mandate has been to promote Sustainable Development and Responsive Business through legislation, representation, oversight and partnerships and is a registered association with the Registrar of Societies.
